Far better reception when you say you're from TX than just American. Joined: Oct 14, Due to reefer madness. They are American friendly in general. I've traveled all over Europe. The ugly American stereotype is alive and well. Again some of it well deserved. Interestingly enough most of Southern Europeans hate Brits more than Americans.

Mainly due to the heavy drinking "spring break" behavior you see from Brits on vacation. Joined: Oct 22, I'm a Texan who moved to CO in The Texan view of all of CO being radical far left is mistaken. There are certainly pockets of that Boulder and Denver but the Air Force academy and multiple bases around CO Springs make the state culturally more purple than far left.

I live in colorado and I don't think many hate Texans.

That being said, there are many common things among Texans that drive us crazy. For example, Texans whine and complain more than any other group and generally if someone is in trouble in the mountains, they are almost assuredly a Texan.

It's easy to find a Texan in Colorado, they are the ones complaining non stop. Skip to Last Page 1 Page 2 Page 3. Post Reply Back to topics. This post has been flagged. Click to display linked image. The problem with Texans, Dad told me, is that they buy up the best fishing and hunting spots, places he had used freely for years.

When I was growing up, I would listen on Friday nights as his poker buddies groused about Texans. One of them, the state fishing commissioner, loved to stick it to Texans when they were caught fishing over the limit, or bagging deer out of season or from the side of the road, which, I gathered, they did—and maybe still do—all the time.

Now, decades later, I live in Dallas. Since we moved, we visit Colorado as often as possible. We Texas drivers apparently have a reputation, just as they did when I was growing up in Colorado.

I am not the only Texan that senses this scrutiny. Richard Carnes, a transplanted Texan who writes a column for the Daily News in Vail tells me about a gentleman from Texas who complained in a letter to the editor. The man was in Vail scouting property for a summer home. He stopped off in a coffee house to sip a latte and found himself sitting next to a table of locals.

The man from Texas sat there, nursing his latte in silence, while the Coloradans poured out their grievances: Texans drive too fast. They brag. They travel in packs, despoiling the land like grasshoppers or grackles. During the written test and the eye test and all the other tests, the DMV guy kept ribbing him about Texas.

It was insulting, but there was more than a grain of truth in it. Different year, I was filling my tank at the gas station. Guy had a buck tied to the hood of his car, and told me he was driving home to Texas.

I told him that deer was gonna rot in his hood. He called me an a-hole and sped off When I was in high school, 3 Texan hunters got arrested for killing 30 elk from the highway. They said they were trying to get one to jump the fence because they didn't want to trespass.

Yesterday I almost hit a woman in my car because she backed walking into the busiest intersection in town so she could get a good picture of a building. The speed limit is 35 right there. Big ol' Longhorns t-shirt on. That whole "Don't Mess With Texas" thing doesn't help, either. Pretty lame. Texans are so damn proud to be from Texas, but I've been there, and I don't see why. Texans think Hummers are cool. Most of us that live here, at least in the prettier parts of the state have these stories, and most of them are about Texans.

Does that answer your question? What this native remembers is that long ago it was fashionable to make fun of a certain kind of Texan- the type who had all the fanciest ski gear but sprained their ankle on the bunny slope, and fussed loudly in stereo drawl about her long fingernails and big hair. Texas is such a big place- Amarillo is very different from Houston.

It would be hard for anyone to hate "Texans. Haha I wouldn't say Colorado hates Texas, but the thing is people move to Colorado for the great outdoors and we take pride in Colorado as much as Texans take pride in Texas. However when you move somewhere and say stuff like "Everythings bigger in Texas" and "Don't mess with Texas", it kind of comes to the question well why are you here?
