Where is malcolm in the middle supposed to take place

Location: Turn right at the stop sign. To the best of my knowledge, the show never mentions the name of a city or town. However, in location shots and such you can see very obvious Southern California landmarks and California license plates. Strangely, later in the shows run they began showing cars with Oklahoma license plates. Seems like the producers really didn't want the show to have a specific locale.

Just before Malcolm gives his graduation speech, Francis drops his employee ID on the ground and it clearly shows his name as "Francis Nolastname", a nod to the fact that the family surname has barely been mentioned.

And also in S6E6 titled 'Hal's Christmas Gift', when Hal finds out Malcolm has a credit card, he gives him a hug only to steal said card and about you can see the card when he takes it out the wallet and the name says "Reese Nolastname", another nod to the fact but it's unclear why it said Reese, but there can be theories formed about that.

In S5E22, Reese is seen wearing his army uniform in the airplane as he stands up and is given a parachute. His name tag says Jetson, but this was the fake name he used to get into the army. Reese is referenced as Jetson in the following episode S6E1. Three men fighting a giant turtle: One Million Years B.

His wrongdoings are only told in flashback and sketchily, but we know that Francis was a troublemaker from a young age: he broke curfew, drank alcohol, smoked and slept with many women. There is hardly any language, little violence especially compared to other movies and shows today, and as for sex, there are some references but nothing over the top.

Honestly, many kids would not even notice these references. I also saw a few reviews about nudity. There is absolutely no nudity whatsoever in the show; nothing bad is shown.

There are scenes where people are naked, but it's always from the shoulders up. I think that one of the best things about the show is that it provides a very realistic view of life in a funny and clever way.

Every episode is absolutely hilarious and original, and can be funny to people of any age, from elementary school kids to grandparents. It has a wonderful portrayal of family as well. It shows the importance of family and unconditional love among family members. These messages are important to children and the show demonstrates them in a memorable way.
